APAnthony Peacock’s uncle, Wilfred Peacock, founded Gretna and District Choral Society in 1943. Seventeen years later in 1960 at the age of fourteen Anthony joined the choir where six members of his family were already singing. He little knew then that he was taking the first steps into a world of music, a world which would become his passion. Forty years later, in 2000 Anthony was delighted to be appointed Director of Music of the same choir his uncle had started fifty-seven years before. Since then the choir has presented more than forty concerts spanning a huge variety of music.

In 2003 he was appointed Director of Music for Cumbria Opera, a post which he held for three years before finally retiring from the company.

In January 2004 Anthony took over as conductor of the chamber choir, Solway Singers, and also in 2004, he formed the Lanercost Festival Chorus to sing large-scale choral works in the beautiful Lanercost Priory.
